How we work
A clear process, agreed before any work begins.
Every engagement follows the same discipline: understand the business, agree what will be done, do it, and review it honestly. Here is what to expect at each step.
Five steps
From the first conversation to an ongoing review of progress.
- 01
Initial conversation
Learn about the owner, the business, its current situation, and its goals.
The first conversation is about fit: whether the business’s needs match what Monarq does well. If they don’t, we’ll say so.
- 02
Business review
Understand the relevant business context, key challenges, and desired outcomes.
Depending on the question, this may include how the business makes money, current priorities, team structure, and a general view of revenue and margins. Detailed financial records are requested only when needed, after engagement terms are in place, and through a secure method agreed with you. Never through the website form.
- 03
Engagement proposal
Agree on scope, expected deliverables, timeline, fees, responsibilities, and limitations.
Everything is set out in writing. No work begins until the relevant terms are accepted.
- 04
Advisory work
Carry out the agreed work.
Practical recommendations and clear next steps, within the scope of the engagement.
- 05
Review and refine
Review progress against agreed objectives and decide what should happen next.
Results depend on the business, its circumstances, implementation, and other factors outside anyone’s full control. Regular review keeps the work honest and focused.
A note on results
Good advice improves decisions. It can’t guarantee outcomes.
Results depend on the business, its market, its people, how recommendations are implemented, and factors outside anyone’s full control. Monarq is direct about what it sees and realistic about what to expect.
Questions
Frequently asked
Who is a good fit for Monarq Advisory?
Owners who have a working business and want to build a stronger one: clearer priorities, better systems, a team that can carry more responsibility, and a better handle on risk. Monarq’s primary focus is growth-stage founders, but owners at other stages may also be a fit depending on the need.
What does an engagement cost?
Fees depend on the scope, duration, and nature of the work. They are agreed in writing before any work begins. Monarq does not publish set prices.
Do you work with early-stage founders?
Sometimes. Early-stage needs are often best served by a focused engagement around a specific question rather than an ongoing advisory relationship.
Do you provide ongoing advisory?
Yes. Ongoing advisory relationships are available where they suit the owner and the business. Scope and terms are agreed individually.
Do you sell insurance?
Risk and protection are part of Monarq’s advisory work. Where insurance may be appropriate, it is discussed separately from advisory work and offered only through an appropriately licensed individual, in states where they are licensed, with any required disclosures.
Do you offer investment advisory?
No. Monarq Advisory does not provide investment advice or investment advisory services.
What happens after I submit the form?
Your inquiry is reviewed. If there may be a fit, we’ll follow up using your preferred contact method to arrange a conversation. If there isn’t, we’ll let you know where we can.
Next step
The first step is a conversation.
